Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) chapter of Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) after its emergency Congress, in the light of the arraignment and detention of Professor Anthony Elujoba, as directed by a Federal High Court Sitting in Ede, Osun State, announced Monday and Tuesday, 10th and 11th July as lecture free days in solidarity with the predominantly esteemed former Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, who recently vacated office.
Professor Elujoba and Mrs Akeredolu were remanded in EFCC custody in relation to a 7-count charge bordering on intent to steal money belonging to the institution and conspiracy to defraud the school, pending bail application hearing next Tuesday.
Revealing the stance of Obafemi Awolowo University Student Union, the PRO, Simon Okediji, in a circulated release, articulated its resolve to be independent in its position regarding the case but would however demand and see to it that the anti-graft and sister agencies direct their searching light at other officials who had in the past served the University, with particular attention on Professor Bamitale Omole, and Professor Michael Faborode.
