• Most Americans say they think President Donald Trump has little to no respect for country's democratic traditions, according to a new poll.

The AP-NORC poll of 1,068 adults was conducted June 8-11 using a sample drawn from NORC's probability-based AmeriSpeak panel.

The new survey found more than 6 in 10 Americans disapprove of the job Trump is doing as president, and nearly half strongly disapprove.

Respondents were first selected randomly using address-based sampling methods, and later interviewed online or by phone.

• A leading rights group has condemned the imprisonment of a man in Tunisia for smoking cigarette in public during  dawn-to-dusk Muslim fast.

*•The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has dismissed 18-count charge of false asset declaration against Senate President Bukola Saraki.*

On May 4, the senate president told the tribunal that he would file a no-case submission, which implies that he is not opening a defence.

This was after the prosecution led by Rotimi Jacobs called its final witness and closed its case.

During his trial which started in 2015, Saraki was represented by at least five lawyers, who are SANs, and about 106 other lawyers.

Senate President Bukola Saraki says he has no grudge against anyone who played a role in his “persecution” for two years.

• The Nigerian Air Force, said it had acquired new platforms and was currently reactivating old aircraft to better security combat.

• Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Co-operatives in Lagos,said N698.47million was released for development in the Lekki Free Zone.

The Lekki Free Trade Zone is being developed as an industrial harbor city with transportation advantage of the Lekki Deep Seaport.

A proposed international airport is to be situated about 10 km from the Zone,& access to the inland waterways with rail and road access.

*•JAMB has blacklisted 48 CBT centres over their involvement in extortion and organised examination malpractices during the 2017 UTME.*

JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, also announced the cancellation of the results of 59,698 candidates who sat for the examination.

He said another 24 CBT centres had been suspended for one year for failing to live up to expectations.

"57,646 JAMB results were affected as a result of centres-induced malpractices, 666 results cancelled due to multiple examination"- Oloyede.

"JAMB had fixed July 1, 2017 as the date for supplementary examination for candidates who registered late for this year’s UTME" - Oloyede.

• The Kaduna State Government on Wednesday formally announced the introduction of residency card for all its residents.

Budget and Planning, Muhammad Abdullahi, told journalists the initiative was crucial for planning purposes.

“But if you are going to stay in the state beyond 180 days, you would be required to register and obtain our residency card"

“This is very important not only in planning,but also in ensuring security. Most of security issues are caused by people from other states"

*•Appeal Court has nullified the judgement of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, which found Godsday Orubebe, guilty of false asset declaration.*

The CCT led had ruled that the prosecution had proven its case against Mr. Orubebe, and confiscated the asset — a landed property.

FG borrows N3.38bn To Aid Potato Production in Plateau

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) wednesday approved N3.38 billion to boost the production of potatoes in Plateau State. The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, who made the disclosure said the money would be borrowed from Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) with one per cent interest rate and 25 years moratorium. The minister who said the loan was not fresh, explained that it had previously been cancelled by the federal government with the intention to make a fresh request for the loan on behalf of Plateau State which she said was responsible for 95 per cent of potato production in the country.
